Parents who depend on <em><a href=\"https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/director-of-education-hails-teachers-for-their-courage-and-collaboration\/?swcfpc=1\">child maintenance<\/a><\/em> orders face schooling, and medical care.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enforce payments through wage attachments or deductions from pensions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Issue warrants or levy distress on property when payments are overdue.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Commit parents to prison if they repeatedly fail to obey maintenance orders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The law gives the Family Court the tools to ensure that children do not Maintenance payments are often late or not made at all. Warrants for non-payment are not consistently issued or enforced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> There is no modern tracking system to monitor compliance. They mean children go without food, uniforms, or medical care. This requires:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A digital case-tracking system for maintenance payments and arrears.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Automatic enforcement of warrants and attachment orders for missed payments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Training for court staff on the law and their duties.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transparent reporting on how many orders are in arrears and what enforcement actions have been taken.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Every missed payment is more than a number. It means a child\u2019s basic needs are not met. It means a single parent must work multiple jobs or depend on relatives. It means the Family Court is failing in its core mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The law already exists to protect these children. The problem is not a lack of legal authority \u2014 the problem is the failure to enforce it.
