Prime Minister Gaston Browne says Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s inflation rate is easing after several months of steady economic performance, signaling that price pressures are stabilizing following earlier spikes that reached double digits.<\/p>

Speaking on the Browne and Browne Show<\/em> on Pointe FM, Browne said inflation fell by half of one percent in June and is expected to stabilize around three percent by early next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn May, there was a minus 1% in the overall index,\u201d Browne said. \u201cIn other words, prices fell by 1% compared to the previous May. In June\u2026 it increased by about a half of 1%. So we expect inflation to taper out on the 3% going into the rest of the year, early next year.\u201d<\/p>

He noted that this trend marks a sharp improvement from the period when inflation rates climbed as high as 9\u201310%, adding that key economic indicators now point toward sustained stability and growth.<\/p>

\u201cEvery metric that you look at, there\u2019s not one that is underperforming,\u201d Browne said. \u201cWe have done so well with the country\u2019s economy. We have attracted investments. We have provided growth for the people. Per capita income is growing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Browne said the government\u2019s policies \u2014 including fiscal discipline, investment attraction, and support for post-pandemic recovery \u2014 have positioned Antigua and Barbuda among the region\u2019s most resilient economies.<\/p>

He added that the focus will now extend beyond economic growth to social and environmental development, arguing that national prosperity must translate into a higher quality of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have to look at the more holistic aspect of our development,\u201d he said. \u201cWe want people to live really fulfilled lives \u2014 a wholesome life.\u201d<\/p>
