For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Zeus<\/strong>\u00a0(Greek) became\u00a0<strong>Jupiter<\/strong>\u00a0(Roman)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Aphrodite<\/strong>\u00a0became\u00a0<strong>Venus<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tammuz<\/strong>, the Babylonian god, was syncretized into Roman mystery religions and is even referenced in the Bible (Ezekiel 8:14).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These idols were then integrated into&nbsp;<strong>Western art, religion, and architecture<\/strong>, persisting into the modern era through&nbsp;<strong>statues, holidays, and place names<\/strong>. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image&#8230; thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Deuteronomy 12:2\u20133<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 \u201cYe shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods\u2026 And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Isaiah 42:8<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 \u201cI am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Acts 17:29<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 Paul, speaking in Athens, says: \u201cWe ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man&#8217;s device.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These passages show that&nbsp;<strong>God made no distinction between \u201cold\u201d idols and \u201cnew\u201d ones<\/strong>&nbsp; all are forbidden, regardless of cultural origin or familiarity. Whether they are Greek, Babylonian, Roman, or modern if they are idols, they fall under the same command.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-issue-of-selective-outrage\"><strong>The Issue of Selective Outrage<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>What we see today is&nbsp;<strong>selective moral outrage<\/strong>. People accept statues and symbols of pagan gods&nbsp; often seeing them as \u201cculture,\u201d \u201chistory,\u201d or \u201cart\u201d but when something unfamiliar or \u201cforeign\u201d arises, suddenly it\u2019s seen as a spiritual threat. Biblically and historically, there\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>no difference<\/strong>. Both are pagan; both are contrary to the commandments.<\/p><div id=\"antig-3541846200\" class=\"antig-content_2 antig-entity-placement\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.courts.com\/antigua\/\" aria-label=\"500X500 (1)\"><img src=\"https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:500\/h:500\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/500X500-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"  srcset=\"https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:500\/h:500\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/500X500-1.jpg 500w, https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:300\/h:300\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/500X500-1.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:150\/h:150\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/500X500-1.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\"   \/><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>If one is to be rejected for spiritual reasons, then&nbsp;<strong>all must be examined under the same standard<\/strong>. Otherwise, it\u2019s hypocrisy&nbsp; holding on to the familiar while condemning the unfamiliar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In short:<\/strong>&nbsp;If a strange idol on All Saints Road is cause for alarm, then the&nbsp;<strong>Roman-Babylonian idols that have been normalized for centuries<\/strong>&nbsp;must also be questioned and, if we\u2019re standing on biblical principles,&nbsp;<strong>renounced and removed as well<\/strong>.
