Year-on-Year Analysis<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Consumer Price Index rose by 0.2% for the twelve months ending June 2025 after declining 0.6% in May 2025. The All Items Less Food and Energy index remained unchanged over the last twelve months. <\/p>

The Food index declined 0.8% over the last twelve months ending June. The Energy index increased 5.4% over the last year. \u00a0 The index for Food declined 0.8% after rising 0.5% in the previous month. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Food index had varied outcomes resulting from five decreases and four increases in the subcategories. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Food index was impacted by declines in the indexes for Vegetables (-4.2%), as several elementary indexes declined, including Lettuce (- 60.6%), Frozen Vegetable, California Blend (- 23.0%), Onion (-13.8%), and White Potato (- 12.3%). \u00a0<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Other Food subcategories that contribute to decline include Fish and Seafood (-3.2%), Oils and Fats (-6.3%), Milk, Cheese, and Eggs (-2.2%), and Sugar, Jams, Honey, Chocolate, and Confectionery (-3.6%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0 The index for All Items Less Food and Energy remained unchanged, resulting from offsetting results in core inflation. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Four of the major groups\u2019 indexes increased in June, but were outweighed by other groups. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The indexes for Health increased by 9.6% while Restaurants and Hotels rose 9.4%. Other increases were Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco and Narcotics (+4.4%), Clothing and Footwear (+2.3%). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These increases were offset by decreases in the indexes for Recreation and Culture (+5.1%), Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance (+4.1%), Maintenance and repair of dwelling (+3.7%), and Actual Rentals for Housing 3.2%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0 Month-to-Month Price Changes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Monthly Consumer Price Index for June 2025 increased by 1.0% in June 2025 after declining 0.6% in May. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The index for food rose 0.9 percent in June after falling 0.4% in May. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seven of the nine major grocery store food group indexes increased in June. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The index for Food Products N.E.C. rose 3.9% over the month as both the indexes for Tomato paste and Ketchup increased 3.0% and the index for BBQ sauce increased by 5.5%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The index for Fruits increased 3.5% in June with the indexes for Fresh and Chilled Fruit; and Frozen, Preserved or Processed Fruit and Fruit-based Products increasing 3.6% and 3.1% respectively. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vegetables index increased 2.8% with the Fresh or Chilled Vegetables rising 4.8% after declining 1.5% the previous month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0 The index for All Items less Food and Energy rose 1.1 percent in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The index for Transport Services rose 8.4% in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The index for Actual Rentals for Housing increased 3.0% over the month and the index for Goods and Services for routine Household Maintenance rose 1.0%. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The index for Miscellaneuos Good and Services rose 0.3% over the same period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
