We’ve participated in FIT for several years, but this is my first time at the fair. My hope is to get to know the Argentine market better, understand what Caribbean travel agents expect, and what tools they need to sell the destination. We also want to interact with consumers, listen to their concerns, and answer their questions. The reception has been very positive; we feel that Argentines appreciate Antigua and Barbuda’s presence here, and that motivates us to strengthen our relationship. Furthermore, the number of visitors from Argentina has been steadily growing, and we want to further boost that interest.<\/p>

How do you perceive Latin American travelers when choosing destinations like Antigua and Barbuda?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Latin American tourists are increasingly open and curious about exploring new options. Previously, they preferred traveling to Spanish-speaking countries, but today they seek different experiences and exclusive destinations. In Argentina, for example, many are interested to learn that Lionel Messi chose Antigua and Barbuda for his honeymoon and later returned with his family. This allows us to showcase what makes us unique: paradisiacal beaches, exclusivity, and a first-class hotel offering. Our goal is to promote the Caribbean brand and demonstrate that it is an accessible destination for Latin American travelers.<\/p>

What new developments are you introducing to the Argentine market?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the most important news, we now have an international airport in Barbuda, improving connectivity and access to the island, even for private flights. We also offer homeporting in Antigua: travelers can board a cruise directly from our country, avoiding visa procedures in the U.S. or Puerto Rico. We are also launching a weekly charter between Cartagena and Antigua, which will allow greater accessibility and the possibility of combining the cruise experience with stays in the destination. These initiatives aim to facilitate the arrival of Latin American tourists and continue to build our market.<\/p>

How is the destination preparing for the rest of the year?<\/strong><\/p>

Antigua and Barbuda boasts a busy tourism calendar year-round. From Wellness Month in January to culinary, sailing, romance, and carnival events, there are always activities to attract visitors. In November, we’ll celebrate Independence Day and Arts Week, as well as the second annual Black Pineapple Awards, where we recognize travel agents who promote and sell the destination. It’s an ongoing effort to maintain visibility, generate business, and strengthen ties with the industry.<\/p>\n
