Antigua and Barbuda PM Condemns Gaza \u2018Genocide,\u2019 Urges Peaceful Two-State Solution at UN<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prime Minister Gaston Browne of Antigua and Barbuda<\/a> used his address to the U.N. General Assembly on Friday to denounce what he called \u201cthe genocide that has occurred\u201d in Gaza, while urging the international community to prioritize peace, humanitarian access, and a two-state solution.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Browne called for the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas but also condemned \u201cthe forced removal of people in Gaza from their homeland and the genocide that has occurred there.\u201d <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

He stressed that humanitarian access \u201cmust be guaranteed and the protection of civilians made non-negotiable\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reaffirming his government\u2019s position, Browne said Antigua and Barbuda \u201cmaintains its position in favor of a two-state solution, Israel and Palestine living side by side in security and dignity, consistent with United Nations resolutions\u201d.<\/p>

He criticized the decision to deny the chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization a visa to attend the assembly in person, saying the U.N. must remain \u201ca chamber for voices to be heard, not to be muzzled, especially during times of war and conflict\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Browne\u2019s remarks on the Middle East formed part of a broader appeal for diplomacy and respect for international law in global conflicts. <\/p>

Turning to Ukraine, he said the war \u201cmust end in peace and with justice, not in the battle fatigue of the besieged,\u201d calling for a return to diplomacy anchored in the U.N. Charter.<\/p>

He argued that piecemeal responses have worsened the country\u2019s suffering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout his address, Browne framed Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s foreign policy as one rooted in peace, human rights, and justice \u2014 principles he said were vital if the world was to be \u201cbetter together,\u201d the theme of this year\u2019s U.N. session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
