The Ministry of Tourism and Investment has ordered a licensed vendor operating at Buccaneer Cove, Dickenson Bay, to relocate his business to Fort James Beach by Friday, Sept. 26, as development plans for the area move forward.<\/p>

In a letter dated Monday, officials told vendor Brian Coates that the government could no longer seek delays from the landowner, who is ready to proceed with construction. Coates will be assigned a new spot at Fort James by tourism officers overseeing the relocation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The directive includes restrictions, limiting the vendor to no more than 25 beach chairs and requiring a downsized version of his current structure. The ministry said these measures are intended to maintain a \u201cwelcoming and peaceful atmosphere for tourists.\u201d<\/p>

Opposition activist George Wehner criticized the move in a public statement. \u201cThe following is a missive to a licensed local beach vendor duly operating at Buccaneer Cove, Dickenson Bay. The Gaston Browne administration continue to kick local beach vendors in their posterior. Just imagine, they want to relocate his to Fort James Beach and downsize his operation!\u201d Wehner said.<\/p>
