Pooran fined for breaching code of conduct<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SOURCE: CARIBBEAN LIFE-<\/strong> Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) captain Nicholas Pooran<\/a> has been fined 20 % of his match fee by the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for his show of dissent towards umpire Ryan Banwarie in the eliminator match against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons<\/a> at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A CPL release states, \u201cThe Republic Bank CPL <\/a>confirms that Nicholas Pooran, representing the Trinbago Knight Riders, has been charged with a Level I offence under the CPL Code of Conduct.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe charge relates to showing dissent at an umpire\u2019s decision during the eliminator match against the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons. Pooran has accepted the sanction, which amounts to a fine of 20% of his match fee.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the said match, Pooran led TKR in the chase against the Falcons with an unbeaten 90 runs from 53 balls, including eight sixes. This helped TKR march into the second qualifier, where they faced reigning champions St Lucia Kings.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

However, Pooran showed his displeasure with Banwarie throughout the chase after the umpire wrongly adjudged him to be lbw on two occasions. Twice, Pooran successfully reviewed and overturned Banwarie\u2019s call to help TKR reach a 167-run target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tension was so high that TKR coach Dwayne Bravo went to the pitch halfway through his team\u2019s chase to try and calm Pooran down. Pooran later apologised to Banwarie after accepting the Man of the Match honors.<\/p>

\u201cIn big games, we tend as players to be in the moment as much as possible. Decisions don\u2019t go your way, and you kinda feel a bit emotional,\u201d Pooran said.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cToday (Sept. 16) was tough to keep the emotions in. I want to say I apologize to the umpire in the spirit of the game. I\u2019m just really happy we could get over the line.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
