A magistrate has postponed a ruling in the case of Police Officer Karim Warner, extending his two-year legal battle into next month.<\/p>

Warner is charged over a 3 December 2022 incident near the Emerald Cove Resort in Willikies, where he allegedly fired 12 rounds at a white Toyota Mark X occupied by two people during a dispute over a leased vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He initially faced counts of discharging a firearm in a public place and assaulting both occupants, and pleaded not guilty to all charges. Prosecutors later withdrew the assault counts. The matter was further complicated when the male complainant did not appear for trial and formally withdrew from the case.<\/p>

Despite those developments, Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel allowed the firearms charge to proceed. After the prosecution closed its case, defence attorney Andrew O\u2019Kola entered a no-case submission, arguing prosecutors had not met the evidentiary threshold. The magistrate rejected that submission, and the trial continued to conclusion.<\/p>
