Cabinet Fast-Tracks Housing Projects in Jennings and Belmont<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The government of Antigua and Barbuda has announced plans to accelerate the construction of new homes in Jennings, Belmont, and other communities, as part of its pledge to expand affordable housing.<\/p>

Cabinet spokesman Maurice Merchant told the weekly post-Cabinet briefing:
\u201cCabinet reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the people of Antigua and Barbuda, particularly those on the lower economic scale, enjoy access to affordable and dignified housing as the central pillar of national pride and social progress\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He confirmed that ministers agreed to \u201cfast-track plans for the construction of homes in Jennings, Belmont and other areas across the nation\u201d.<\/p>

In addition to new construction, Cabinet pledged further support to the Humanity Advancement Projects Initiative (HAPI), a group that works to repair and build homes for the disadvantaged.
\u201cCabinet agreed to provide additional assistance to HAPI so that they can support the repairs and the construction of homes for the less fortunate in Antigua and Barbuda,\u201d Merchant said.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The housing initiative is part of a broader government effort to uplift communities, which includes infrastructure improvements, environmental projects, and beautification drives.<\/p>
