Online Ticket Fraud Hits Local Business as Phone Scam Targets School<\/p>

An online ticketing platform has reportedly lost more than $1,100 in a credit card scam, one of two fraud cases reported this month highlighting growing threats to local businesses and institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to police, an individual allegedly used fraudulent credit cards flagged by Visa to purchase event tickets through the company\u2019s application in late August. The co-owner detected the suspicious activity and reported it, prompting an investigation and police interviews with the business.<\/p>

In a separate case on 15 September, staff at a local educational institution were duped by a caller who impersonated a well-known figure. The individual allegedly attempted to persuade employees to buy $200 in mobile phone credit for several numbers. The school director later reported the incident, which was referred to the appropriate police station.<\/p>
