On Wednesday, 10th September 2025, the Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda<\/a>, led by the Honourable Gaston Browne, Prime Minister, visited the Headquarters of the Antigua & Barbuda Defence Force<\/a> (ABDF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The purpose of this visit was to engage in a high-level discussion on the Force\u2019s transformation and strategic agenda.<\/p>

During the session, Chief of Defence Staff, Brigadier Telbert Benjamin, presented a comprehensive multi-year programme focused on modernization, resilience building, and the expansion of national service.<\/p>

His presentation highlighted key initiatives aimed at strengthening the Force\u2019s operational capacity and enhancing its role in national development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the briefing, members of the Cabinet <\/a>toured the base and were provided with updates on several ongoing and planned projects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These included the expansion of medical evacuation and repatriation services, the advancement of the communications and radar system project, and the acquisition of a new patrol vessel to bolster maritime security.<\/p>

Additionally, discussions addressed the potential establishment of a new Coast Guard base and the development of academic programmes designed to enhance leadership, technical expertise, and the overall professional capacity of ABDF <\/a>personnel.<\/p>

Prime Minister Browne emphasized that these initiatives reflect the Government\u2019s unwavering commitment to equipping the Defence Force with the tools, training, and infrastructure necessary to strengthen its readiness and resilience in the face of evolving national challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
