The Women in Maritime Association Caribbean (WIMAC) \u2013 Antigua and Barbuda Chapter has announced the launch of its inaugural Maritime Essay Competition, aimed at inspiring young people to explore the role they play in shaping a sustainable ocean future.<\/p>

Open to third and fourth form students from both government and private secondary schools, the competition encourages participants to showcase their writing skills, creativity, and knowledge of the maritime world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s theme, \u201cOur Ocean, Our Obligation, Our Opportunity,\u201d<\/em> draws inspiration from the International Maritime Organization\u2019s observance of World Maritime Day 2025. Students will write on the topic \u201cOur Ocean, Our Future: How Young People Can Protect and Transform Our Marine Environment.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

Organisers say the competition is designed to encourage critical thinking about the importance of the sea and its resources, while highlighting opportunities for youth to engage in maritime sustainability.<\/p>
