The Resident British Commissioner, John Hamilton, has urged Antiguans and Barbudans to submit stronger applications for the Chevening Scholarship scheme.<\/p>

Speaking at a recent event, Hamilton said alumni support was key to helping candidates improve.
\u201cThe honest answer is by getting more and better candidates \u2013 and that happens when people come together and help each other,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UK-funded programme offers full scholarships for one-year master\u2019s degrees at leading British universities. Applicants are selected for their leadership potential and commitment to positive change.<\/p>

For 2025, Dr David Francis was the sole awardee from Antigua and Barbuda. He works as a House Officer in Internal Medicine at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre and will study Applied Infectious Disease Epidemiology at University College London.<\/p>

Applications for the 2026 intake are now open until November at chevening.org<\/strong>. Hamilton encouraged prospective students not to be discouraged by rejection, stressing that unsuccessful candidates could strengthen their applications and reapply.<\/p>\n
