Care Project Children to Benefit From New State-of-the-Art Facility<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Children with severe disabilities in Antigua and Barbuda are set to receive enhanced care as a new purpose-built centre for the Care Project nears completion at the Halberton compound.<\/p>

The development was highlighted by Junior Health Minister Senator Michael Joseph on the Browne and Browne Show<\/em> on Pointe FM, Saturday 6 September 2025. He described the move as a major step in the government\u2019s pledge to modernise facilities for the country\u2019s most vulnerable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project is backed by the Maria Holder Trust, the Jumbie Bay Fund, Friends of the Care Project, and the Government of Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Care Project, which provides residential and therapeutic services for children with complex needs, has long operated out of an ageing building with structural limitations. According to Senator Joseph, the transition into a modern environment will transform both the quality of care and the dignity afforded to the children.<\/p>

He said the \u201cnew state-of-the-art building\u201d<\/strong> and providing a \u201cnew modern environment\u201d<\/strong> for the children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new complex is part of a wider plan to repurpose the Halberton site into a \u201chealth village\u201d offering specialist services alongside the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre. Alongside the Care Project, the site will host a sickle cell centre and other auxiliary health services.<\/p>
