Today, as the world reflects on the passing of Giorgio Armani, I recall a unique moment when Antigua quietly became part of his story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In November 2006, \ud835\ude3c\ud835\ude67\ud835\ude58\ud835\ude5d\ud835\ude5e\ud835\ude69\ud835\ude5a\ud835\ude58\ud835\ude69\ud835\ude6a\ud835\ude67\ud835\ude56\ud835\ude61 \ud835\ude3f\ud835\ude5e\ud835\ude5c\ud835\ude5a\ud835\ude68\ud835\ude69 featured Armani\u2019s retreat here in Antigua\u2014a sanctuary of light, air and understated elegance. At the time, I was serving as Minister of Tourism, and it was deeply meaningful to see our island highlighted not just as a destination, but as a place that inspired one of the world\u2019s greatest designers.<\/p>

I was honored to meet Mr. Armani, to be invited into his home, and to hear firsthand why Antigua meant so much to him. He often said that the essence of Antigua\u2014its natural beauty, calm spirit, and effortless charm\u2014aligned perfectly with his own sense of elegance. That is why he chose our island as his retreat.<\/p>

His villas, named \ud835\ude41\ud835\ude61\ud835\ude64\ud835\ude6c\ud835\ude5a\ud835\ude67 and \ud835\ude4e\ud835\ude5a\ud835\ude67\ud835\ude5a\ud835\ude63\ud835\ude56, were more than vacation homes. They embodied his philosophy of simplicity, grace, and harmony with nature\u2014qualities that resonated deeply with our own spirit. In this retreat, Armani crafted more than architecture\u2014he offered a pause, a haven. Today, it stands as a testament to his quiet elegance and his belief in harmony between design and nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His passing reminds us that true legacy is not only in the clothes he designed or the red carpets he defined, but also in the quiet spaces he created for reflection and renewal. I am proud that Antigua was part of that legacy.<\/p>
