Antigua <\/a>is proud to host Grandmaster Nigel Short<\/a>, one of the most celebrated figures in international chess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Known for his legendary career and contributions to the game, Nigel Short is a former World Championship finalist and a global chess ambassador.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Short became a Grandmaster in 1984 at just 19, making him the youngest in the world at that time.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

He was the first Englishman to challenge for the World Chess Championship, competing against Garry Kasparov in 1993, and has since won over 70 international tournaments across six continents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His peak rating was 2712, and he reached a world ranking of No. 3. Nigel has also served as FIDE Vice President and is currently the Director for Chess Development.<\/p>

During his visit, Nigel Short will appear on ABS TV on Monday, August 15th, as well as participate in other community chess events to be announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
