The Slavery Abolition Act of 1833 made provisions for \u00a320 million (the modern day equivalent of between \u00a32.1 billion and \u00a317 billion by various estimates) to be paid to enslavers for loss of \u201cproperty\u201d. The loan which was taken out to pay this compensation was only repaid in 2015. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Descendants of the enslaved have received nothing, despite continuous calls for repair. <\/em><\/p>
