CABINET NOTES: Education Sector Readiness and Expansion of Tertiary Education<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education and the Director of the newly established\u00a0Antigua and Barbuda<\/a> College of Advanced Studies (ABCAS)<\/strong>\u00a0were invited to Cabinet to provide an update on ongoing teacher negotiations and the readiness of schools and tertiary institutions for the opening of the new academic year on\u00a0Monday, 8th September<\/strong>.<\/p>

    Cabinet was informed that\u00a0discussions with the Teachers Union are progressing smoothly<\/strong>, and teachers are actively preparing for the reopening of schools<\/a>.<\/p>

    \"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

    The Director of ABCAS <\/a>further reported that\u00a0all tertiary institutions operating under its umbrella are ready for the start of the school year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In addition, it was confirmed that the\u00a0School of Agriculture<\/strong>, located at the former Glanvilles Primary School, will soon begin offering\u00a0short courses to farm attendants and farmers<\/strong>\u00a0in areas such as\u00a0animal husbandry and agro-processing<\/strong>. <\/p>

    Looking further ahead, the institution is expected to launch\u00a0Associate Degree programmes<\/strong>\u00a0beginning in\u00a0September 2026<\/strong>, expanding opportunities for advanced studies in agriculture and related fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    To support this expansion, Cabinet also approved the creation of several key positions for the new campus, including:<\/p>
