Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force:<\/strong> On June 6th, 2025, the Antigua & Barbuda Defence Force<\/a> (ABDF) achieved a significant milestone in its anticipated Coastal Radar Project at Camp Blizzard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative, which has been underway since the beginning of 2025, represents a major step forward in strengthening the nation\u2019s maritime security and safety framework.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Coastal Radar System is designed to enhance the Force\u2019s communication and surveillance capabilities, providing real-time monitoring of Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s <\/a>surrounding waters. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

By improving maritime domain awareness, the system enables the ABDF to respond more effectively to potential threats, illegal activities, and emergencies at sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to bolstering national security, the project delivers critical benefits for civilian safety. Boaters and maritime operators will benefit from improved monitoring and coordination, ensuring faster response times during incidents and fostering safer navigation throughout the country\u2019s territorial waters.<\/p>

Stage 1 of the project, which focused on building the radar antenna and placing it in position, has been successfully completed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lieutenant A. Bird, who serves as the Project Lead, emphasized the importance of this first phase and its role in laying the foundation for the full implementation of the radar system.<\/p>

With this milestone achieved, the ABDF <\/a>is now one step closer to its long-term goal of enhanced operational readiness and maritime safety.<\/p>
