Antigua PM Defends Record, Cites Low Corruption in Public Office<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has defended his administration\u2019s record on governance, insisting that Antigua and Barbuda enjoys relatively low levels of corruption in public office compared with other countries.<\/p>

Speaking on Point FM, Browne said public resources are being \u201cutilised exclusively for the benefit of our people,\u201d allowing the government to expand housing, education and healthcare programmes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He admitted that \u201csome level of corruption\u201d may exist, but argued that whenever excesses are identified, measures are taken to plug loopholes and prevent waste.<\/p>

Browne contrasted his government\u2019s stewardship with nations where he said public funds are routinely squandered, adding that Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s progress in infrastructure, social programmes and investment has been possible precisely because resources are not lost to large-scale corruption.<\/p>
