Patient\u2019s Family Alleges Malpractice After Steroid Use Leads to Osteoporosis<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A family is preparing to pursue legal action after claiming that years of medical mismanagement left their mother with severe health complications and a diminished quality of life.<\/p>

The woman, who had been under the care of the same physician for years, was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and placed on long-term steroid treatment to manage knee pain and mobility issues. According to her relatives, the drugs were prescribed without sufficient explanation of their potential risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to steroids, she was also given medication commonly used for diabetes to counter weight gain caused by the treatment, despite not being fully informed of its purpose, they allege.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

While her primary physician was away, a substitute doctor arranged for an x-ray at the hospital. The results reportedly revealed that the patient had developed osteoporosis linked to prolonged steroid use.<\/p>

Family members say that when the results were later presented to her regular doctor, the report was dismissed. The patient was then told that her steroids would be stopped immediately, with only a brief reduction in dosage. When she questioned whether she should be gradually weaned off the medication, she was allegedly asked, \u201cAre you addicted?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her condition has since worsened, with increased pain, stiffness and loss of mobility. Attempts to discuss alternative treatment options with her physician were allegedly met with indifference.<\/p>

The family has since sought new healthcare providers and is exploring alternative therapies. They are also considering legal proceedings, saying they wish to raise awareness about what they describe as malpractice.<\/p>\n
