Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley Sunday announced that he would be traveling to the United States on Tuesday to undergo medical tests regarding his heart.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am in my 69th<\/sup> year, I am not as young as I used to be. There are benefits at being at my age but there\u2019s also downsides,\u201d he told reporters, adding \u201cas a matter of fact I take this in stride going forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere was a time when I didn\u2019t have any such condition and like I said I had no such symptoms that slowed me down or caused me to think, but I have to be aware and modern technology allows one to be aware of what is happening with you\u201d.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Rowley told reporters that he was \u201cdelinquent\u201d in dealing with the situation after his doctors had informed him of the matter in 2017<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI should have gone back to do these tests last year September, but that was the budget time and so on and son on and I put it off,\u201d he said, adding that after the budget, he had to deal with the revamping of the state-owned oil company, PETROTRIN that had been losing billions of dollars annually (One TT dollar=US$0.37 cents).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo I really should have done that last year, so when I look back and realize it is a year and a half I really did not take the advice that I got in 2017. So I am going to take it now,\u201d he said, adding that he would be out of the country \u201cfor a couple of days\u201d.<\/p>

\u201cI am in relatively good health but I have observations to make and I have to be guided by the experts who are better at telling me what is happening \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt starts with a series of tests,\u201d he said, adding that would be done in California\u201d<\/p>

\u201cWhat do we do, I don\u2019t have a choice. What I do know is that I will be out for a few days, the number of days will be determined by what we experience and what is recommended  and I know that the government is in good hands and will continue to function at full throttle\u2026I hope they don\u2019t have to contact me about their day\u2019s work, but we do consult on matters that are sufficiently important to require that kind of consultation,\u201d he added.<\/p>
