As the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season stirs to life with Tropical Storm Erin intensifying into a hurricane, Differently-Abled Advocate Juante Kirby is calling on the people of Antigua and Barbuda to rise in unity and compassion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith Erin\u2019s path threatening several Caribbean islands, we must act\u2014not just with preparedness, but with heart,\u201d Kirby said. \u201cThis is the moment to be our brother\u2019s keeper.\u201d<\/p>

Kirby, emphasized the vulnerability of those who live alone or face mobility and communication challenges.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cStorms don\u2019t discriminate, but our response must be inclusive,\u201d Kirby stated. \u201cWe cannot afford to overlook those who may not be able to evacuate themselves, secure their homes, or even call for help.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is urging communities, churches, neighborhood groups, and local authorities to:<\/p>

\"\ud83d\ude97\" Coordinate transportation for those who need assistance evacuating<\/p>

\"\ud83d\udcde\" Ensure access to emergency communication tools for all<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\"\ud83e\udded\" Include disability-specific needs in shelter planning and relief efforts<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kirby also called on government agencies to prioritize inclusive disaster response protocols and ensure that emergency broadcasts are accessible to all citizens, including those with hearing or visual impairments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLet us not wait until tragedy strikes to realize who we\u2019ve left behind,\u201d Kirby said. \u201cAntigua and Barbuda has always been a nation of resilience and love. Let\u2019s prove it again\u2014by showing up for each other.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
