The executive of the Antigua and\nBarbuda Swimming Federation extended hearty congratulations to National Olympic\nCommittee (NOC) President and Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade\nand Immigration, Paul \u201cChet\u201d Greene, on his recent appointment to the\nAssociation of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) Culture and Education\nCommission.  <\/p>

Under Commission Chairman Stanislav\nPozdnyakov of the Russian Federation, President Greene will join a global team\nof professionals to look at \u201cways it can help promote the positive role of\nsport and education for NOCs, with a particular focus on Olympic education and\nspreading the Olympic values,\u201d according to the Chairman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As described by the association,\nthe \u201cANOC is the umbrella organisation responsible for protecting and advancing\nthe interests of the world\u2019s National Olympic Committees (NOCs), and for\nsupporting their mission to promote the Olympic Values worldwide. Over the last\n35 years, the number of NOCs recognised by the International Olympic Committee\n(IOC) and represented by ANOC has risen to 206.\u201d <\/p>

In a press release announcing and\nconfirming the membership of the Commissions, ANOC Acting President Robin\nMitchell said: \u201cWe are delighted to announce the composition of the 2019\nCommissions. There is so much experience and knowledge throughout the\nmembership and we are excited to see what they come up with over the course of\nthis year. ANOC\u2019s ultimate mission is to protect and advance the collective\ninterests of the NOCs and the Commissions are critical in ensuring that ANOC is\nconstantly self-assessing where it can improve and determining the areas where\nit can enhance its support for NOCs.\u201d<\/p>

Commenting on the appointment, ABSF\nPresident Dr. Derek Marshall, said, \u201cThe ABSF Executive is extremely happy to\nsee Antigua and Barbuda represented at this high level of global sports.  Minister Greene has been always been an\nardent fan and supporter of swimming in Antigua and Barbuda and he can count on\nour support, as he assumes his new role and responsibilities.  We are sure that he will have a positive\nimpact on the newly formed Culture & Education Commission and will do\nAntigua and Barbuda proud with his representation.\u201d<\/p>\n
