MP for St Peters Hon. Asot\nMichael is expressing serious concerns about the Housing project at Paynters\nand the extent to which it is benefitting the constituents of St. Peters<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Asot Michael disclosed in\nParliament recently, \u201cthe Hon Prime Minister told Mr. Bernard Gardner the\nformer Exec Director of the National Housing Company that wherever housing\ndevelopments are being constructed, the Member of Parliament for the area\nshould at all times be given priority in the allocation of the homes\u201d. Mr.\nMichael said \u201cI fully understand this does not mean that the MP should be\ngreedy and expect that only his\/her supporters will get the houses\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the St Peters MP\nrevealed he has never been consulted: <\/p>

\u201cI have sent hundreds of Antiguans\nincluding civil servants, teachers, firemen, policemen persons who I know would\nqualify for the mortgage to the NHC and there has been no response. Neither Mr.\nGardner or his replacement Mr. Telly Cornelius have engaged with me in any way,\nshape or form\u201d.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

According to Mr. Michael, so\nfar, a few of his constituents have received calls and letters from the NHC to\nsay they have been allotted a house at Paynters \u2013 part of the St Peters\nconstituency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said, 170 houses are\nbeing built and Constituents of St Peter who should be given first preference,\nhave received only 20 percent of the allocations. Mr. Michael is therefore\nasking the Minister of Lands to look into the matter and ensure that justice\nprevails for the constituents of St Peters:<\/p>
