Antigua and Barbuda <\/a><\/strong>is ramping up preparations to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) next year and has issued a fresh call for volunteers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Foreign Affairs Minister E.P. Chet Greene made the appeal during a ceremony at the Copper and Lumber Store in Nelson\u2019s Dockyard, where volunteers from the recent Organisation of American States (OAS<\/a><\/strong>) General Assembly were honoured.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Greene praised the efforts of those who supported the OAS event, saying their commitment exemplified the spirit of national service. \u201cVolunteering is about more than compensation \u2014 it\u2019s about pride, unity, and giving back,\u201d he said.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

He stressed that hosting CHOGM will require even greater volunteer support, noting the event\u2019s expanded scale and global significance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dr. Clarence Pilgrim, described volunteers as \u201cthe backbone\u201d of Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s<\/a><\/strong> diplomatic engagements.<\/p>

\u201cYour friendly faces and hard work ensured our success,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Certificates of Appreciation were presented to group leaders, while other volunteers will be recognised through the ministry. Prizes donated by local businesses added a celebratory touch to the evening.<\/p>
