Approximately 80 residents of the Fiennes Institute received much-needed care packages last weekend, thanks to a community outreach initiative spearheaded by the Youth Arm of the Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union (ABWU).<\/p>

The outreach, held on Saturday, aimed to provide practical support to elderly individuals facing financial hardship, social isolation, and ongoing health challenges. The initiative was also an extension of the Union\u2019s welfare programme, which offers assistance to ABWU members and their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"\/<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Members of the Youth Arm were on hand to personally distribute the packages, which included essential items such as rubbing alcohol, bath tissue, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, and all-purpose cleaner. Following the presentation, the young workers toured the facility and connected one-on-one with residents in a show of compassion.<\/p>

\u201cThis experience was incredibly fulfilling,\u201d said Sis. Blair Rose, President of the ABWU Youth Arm. \u201cIt was a privilege to give back to those who have laid the foundation of our society through their hard work and service. I was especially pleased to see the warm and respectful interactions between the staff and residents.\u201d<\/p>

ABWU President Kem Riley,<\/strong> who also attended the activity, praised the Youth Arm for their passion and commitment. \u201cI\u2019m truly inspired by the dedication of our young people,\u201d Riley said. \u201cTheir eagerness to serve is commendable, and the Union stands ready to support future outreach projects through our Welfare Committee.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ABWU Youth Arm plays a key role in engaging and empowering young workers through leadership development, training, and educational opportunities. This latest initiative underscores the Union\u2019s ongoing commitment to social responsibility and community upliftment.<\/p>
