With final preparations underway, the University of the West Indies (UWI) Five Islands Campus is highlighting the pivotal role of artificial intelligence (AI)<\/a><\/strong> in transforming Caribbean society ahead of its second annual AI conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A key focus this year is AI in healthcare. Under the theme AI for Sustainable Caribbean Healthcare<\/em>, a panel of experts will examine how AI is reshaping medical services across the region. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dr Curtis Charles, Director of Academic Affairs, described it as one of the most impactful sessions of the conference.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Moderated by Dr George Mansour, the panel will feature Harvard Assistant Professor and Chief Data Scientist Dr Michael Lee, whose research centres on applying AI <\/a><\/strong>to regional healthcare systems. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organisers say the session will outline practical, data-driven solutions tailored to the Caribbean context.<\/p>

More than 300 delegates are expected to attend the conference, which runs from 22 to 24 June. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Support has come from across the public and private sectors, including government ministries, banks and statutory bodies.<\/p>

The event opens on 22 June with a free workshop for teachers and public servants, aimed at making AI more accessible in classrooms and public services. <\/p>
