Authorities are reiterating calls for the general\npublic to be more responsible when navigating the country\u2019s roads. <\/p>

The call is also extended to Police Officers and EMS\nfirst responders who are asked to be mindful and observe the country\u2019s traffic\nlaws when carrying out their duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Special Traffic Advisory Committee has been established\nby the Minister of National Security the Hon. Steadroy Cutie Benjamin, as the\ngovernment is quite alarmed at the number of vehicular accidents which happen\neach year.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Benjamin mentioned that \u201ceven if EMS and Police\nOfficers are carrying out their duty and have their sirens turned on, it does\nnot mean that they should not follow the traffic rules of the twin island state;\nand if they breach the traffic rules and they are caught they can be charged.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Minister added that it has been observed that\npersons are still driving while talking on their cellphones and children are\nbeing transported in the front seat, of motor cars. Benjamin stated that as of\nFebruary 15th <\/sup>,  the Vehicles\nand Road Traffic (Amendment) Act 2018 and the Vehicles and Road Traffic (Mobile\nDevices) Regulations, 2019 will be strictly enforced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

National Security Minister mentioned that he will seek\nCabinet\u2019s approval in placing street lights along the entire All Saints road,\nwhich will seek to address the visibility problem currently being faced,\nespecially since the Police have identified that this is a major reason for the\nnumber of traffic accidents which occur on that road at night.<\/p>

Manager of Transport Board Hubert Jarvis will be\nworking along with the Traffic Department in sourcing some speed guns and\npatrol motor cycles.<\/p>\n
