International Day for Women in Maritime is celebrated annually on the 18th May.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

This initiative is led by the International Maritime Organization (IMO)<\/a><\/strong> to promote the empowerment of women across the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s theme is, \u201cAn Ocean of Opportunities for Women\u201d.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Today we celebrate the women who hold a diverse array of roles within the maritime industry and are making significant contributions ranging from operational positions to leadership roles on board vessels and on shore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These include Captains, Officers, Marine Engineers, Technicians, Marine Biologists, Environmental Scientists, Maritime Lawyers, Policy Makers, Port and Logistics Managers.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

This proves that success is possible and not gender specific.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Special thanks to the IMO <\/a>and other supporting organizations who continue to shape policies and actions to promote greater representation, recognition and empowerment of women within the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We here at WiMAC Antigua and Barbuda, join to celebrate this day and recognize the work of our phenomenal women creating waves in the Maritime Sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
