Dear Editor, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every year for Labor Day<\/a><\/strong>, cheerleading competitions are held with participants from most if not all constituencies.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

These events bring people together in a spirited display of pride and unity. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Parents often allow their children to participate not only because of their deep-rooted love and support for their political party, but also because the children genuinely enjoy the experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For many of them, it\u2019s more than just a performance, it\u2019s a celebration. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

They take pride in wearing their uniforms, showcasing their skills, and engaging in the lively practice sessions leading up to the big day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s an exciting time that creates lasting memories for everyone involved.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I believe it\u2019s a great idea to reward these youngsters for their hard work and dedication.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Their commitment to practicing, showing up, and performing with pride deserves recognition, not just for those who win, but for every participant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They all contribute to the spirit and excitement of the event, and acknowledging their efforts can boost their confidence, and encourage their continued involvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My Concern Regarding Prize Money<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While I fully support rewarding all the youngsters who participate in the Labor Day cheerleading competitions, I do have a concern regarding the allocation of prize money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each team typically has a designated coordinator, dance teacher(s), and dedicated parents who all play vital roles in preparing the children and ensuring everything runs smoothly and safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These individuals often invest significant time, effort, and even personal resources to support the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My question is:\u00a0how is the prize money distributed?<\/strong>\u00a0Is it going solely to the children? Is a portion going to the coordinators or instructors?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transparency is important here, as it helps maintain trust among all involved and ensures that everyone who contributes is recognized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saying all this to say<\/strong>\u2014I sincerely hope that whoever is in charge and has collected the prize money for St. John\u2019s Rural East<\/strong> will do the right thing and ensure that the participants are properly treated and rewarded for their hard work and dedication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Too many times, we\u2019ve seen situations where funds disappear or aren\u2019t distributed fairly<\/strong>, and it leaves a bad taste, especially for the young people who give their all in these events. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m hopeful that this time will be different\u2014that transparency, fairness, and appreciation for the participants will take priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s do better. They deserve that much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let me be clear\u2014this isn’t about politics; it’s about fairness and honesty<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If basic items like water and drinks\u2014provided by the Minister and intended for the children\u2014are being taken to people\u2019s homes instead of distributed to those they were meant for, then it’s understandable why there would be doubt that the prize money will be handled appropriately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These children worked hard and deserve to be treated fairly.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0I truly hope that those responsible take this message to heart and do what they ought to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let this be a moment where we choose decency over self-interest\u2014for the sake of the young people who show up and give their all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
