Prime Minister Gaston Browne has said his Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP)<\/a><\/strong> government will leave the country \u201csignificantly better\u201d than it was when it took office, pointing to a record of tackling long-standing national challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on Pointe FM over the weekend, Browne cited major reforms and development programmes that he says have strengthened key institutions and improved economic prospects. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

These include the overhaul of the social security scheme, land development initiatives, and investments in public education.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur government is addressing the big issues that were kicked down the road by previous administrations,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve restructured social security to ensure its long-term viability, we\u2019re building out affordable housing, and we\u2019ve prioritised education infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>

Browne also defended the government’s approach to land pricing, noting that the state has been buying land at commercial rates, installing infrastructure, and reselling plots to locals at below-market prices to encourage ownership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He maintained that the ABLP <\/a><\/strong>had demonstrated both \u201ccourage and competence\u201d in confronting economic and social issues that had long gone unresolved.<\/p>
