Call for Decency, Dialogue, and Swift Resolution in Ongoing Teachers\u2019 Industrial Action<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The National Student Council of Antigua and Barbuda<\/a><\/strong> expresses deep concern over the ongoing industrial action by the Antigua and Barbuda Union of Teachers, which began on May 2, 2025<\/strong>, during a critical time in the academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As students across the nation prepare for end-of-year assessments and examinations, the continued withholding of teachers\u2019 services is having a<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

significant negative impact on our education, well-being, and academic outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We recognize the grievances expressed by the Antigua and Barbuda Union of Teachers, particularly regarding outstanding allowances and unresolved issues from the Collective<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Bargaining Agreement. At the same time, we note the rising public tensions, including multiple verbal attacks by the Honourable Prime Minister on the Union, its President, and the teaching profession as a whole.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

At this moment, we make the following urgent appeals:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. To the Government of Antigua and Barbuda <\/strong>\u2013 We urge the Ministry of Education and the Government to treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves by prioritizing<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    respectful and meaningful dialogue with the Union. Furthermore, we call for the<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    implementation of stronger administrative and management practices within the Ministry to prevent the recurrence of these issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
