\u201cThat enclosed\nacreage is to be used for the containerized units which will serve as a\ntemporary prison for those persons on remand,\u201d it was reported following\nCabinet yesterday.<\/p>

The current Prison\non Coronation Road houses almost 300 prisoners, one-half of the inmates have\nbeen convicted; the other half is awaiting a trial date and are on remand. <\/p>

All the remand\nprisoners who are not considered a risk will be transferred to the temporary\nhousing, in order to ease overcrowding at the main facility. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the\ngovernment, \u201cthe containerized houses will reach Antigua before March 31, 2019,\nand the facility ought to be completed within weeks afterwards.\u201d<\/p>
