Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle has urged workers across Antigua and Barbuda to \u201crise up and demand better,\u201d citing economic struggles and deteriorating public services.<\/p>

Speaking at the Antigua and Barbuda Workers\u2019 Union (ABWU) Labour Day rally, Pringle said the conditions facing workers and families were unsustainable. \u201cWhen workers can\u2019t save, can\u2019t buy land, and pensioners must choose between food and medicine\u2014then it is time to rise,\u201d he told the crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He pledged that the United Progressive Party would work alongside the ABWU to push for a living wage above the current $9 minimum. \u201cWe must secure better and more opportunities,\u201d Pringle said, warning that the nation\u2019s future was at risk if change did not come.<\/p>

Pringle also called for public support of both the UPP and the ABWU, describing them as the country\u2019s best hope for political and economic reform. \u201cThat is the work of a union that believes in its workers,\u201d he said, vowing continued solidarity with the labour movement.<\/p>
