The soca artiste fingered by Paul Chet Greene as only \u201csometimes\u201d good, has taken the culture minister\u2019s criticism in stride.<\/p>

Greene told a workshop last week that the vast majority of soca artists were no good and added that Denise Menace Roberts was consistent some of the time.<\/p>\n

In response Menace told Antigua News Room (ANR) \u201cto some extent\u00a0I have some weaknesses I need to work on\u00a0 to make me more consistent.<\/p>

He admitted, \u201cI’m nowhere near the expected milestone I would like to be so.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The Problem Child singer says he needs more\u00a0training, financing, guidance and exposure to reach my potential.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last year Menace was named Cultural Ambassador for Antigua & Barbuda. He is one of a handful of performers to release hit songs every carnival and while he\u2019s never capture a monarch title, he\u2019s come close on many occasions.<\/p>

He told ANR \u201cI think that the minister\u00a0should not be angry and passionate but be\u00a0calmer when\u00a0encouraging.<\/p>

\u201cWhen giving his speeches about the business and how we can improve our product in Antigua, it\u2019s not easy\u00a0as Tian said in an article last year.\u201d<\/p>

Greene thrashed the majority of soca singer saying only Ricardo Drue, Claudette Peter and Tian Winter were any good.<\/p>\n

The minister later defended his comments on ABS.<\/p>\n

Political leader of the United Progressive Party Harold Lovell said it\u2019s not a matter of what the minister said but how he said it.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour tone can be helpful or it can be hurtful. 10% of conflicts are due to a difference of opinion, but 90% are due to the wrong tone of voice,\u201d Lovell wrote on his official Facebook page.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet us continue to encourage and support the development of our artists,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He also advised the carnival minister to “put your money where you mouth is.”<\/p>\n
