Mounting frustration has erupted into public outcry as patients and concerned workers at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre <\/a><\/strong>voice deep dissatisfaction with the state of the hospital\u2019s hospitality and procedural practices. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Civilians are now urgently calling on the government to step in and revamp the institution, which they say is in dire need of reform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From prolonged wait times to claims of rude and inappropriate treatment, patients are describing their experience as distressing and, at times, dehumanizing.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are not asking for perfection \u2014 we are asking to be treated with dignity,\u201d said one patient, visibly shaken by their recent visit to the emergency room. \u201cThe hospital needs help. We need help!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A growing number of complaints highlight consistent delays in service delivery, disorganized procedures, and what some describe as a \u201clazy-like\u201d attitude from certain staff.<\/p>

Many have pointed out that this isn\u2019t a reflection of all healthcare workers, but a systemic issue that leaves even dedicated professionals overwhelmed and unsupported.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe truth is, we\u2019re understaffed and overworked,\u201d shared one hospital worker who asked to remain anonymous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe need more hands \u2014 more doctors, more nurses, more orderlies. The strain is real, and it\u2019s affecting the quality of care we\u2019re able to provide.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The call for additional medical personnel \u2014 especially doctors, nurses, and orderlies \u2014 is being echoed across departments, as the facility struggles to keep pace with the growing demand for healthcare services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Citizens are pleading for immediate government intervention, calling for both increased staffing and a reassessment of operational procedures to ensure a more efficient, compassionate, and professional healthcare environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the national hospital, the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre holds a vital place in Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s healthcare infrastructure. For many, it\u2019s the first \u2014 and often only \u2014 option for urgent and specialized care. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As such, the stakes are high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is not the first time concerns have been raised, but with tensions rising and public patience wearing thin, the message is now loud and clear: meaningful action must be taken \u2014 and soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur lives are in their hands. We need to trust the system, not fear it,\u201d said another patient. \u201cWe need more staff, better treatment, and real change. This is a matter of urgency.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
