Former Gang Members Embrace Second Chance Through Education Initiative<\/strong><\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Around 30 young men once associated with the Two Drilly and Grace Farm Killers gangs have been given a life-changing opportunity to rebuild their lives through education, thanks to a government-supported programme at the Antigua and Barbuda Institute of Continuing Education (ABICE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many of the participants had previously dropped out of school, but more than half have now recommitted to their studies and personal development. Despite challenges that led to the expulsion or withdrawal of about ten individuals\u2014some due to behavioral issues or prolonged absences\u2014the rest have integrated into the school community and are actively participating in various activities.<\/p>

Charles Brown, a counselor at ABICE, praised the programme as a positive step, especially for youth from difficult backgrounds. He acknowledged that while some students struggled with old habits, the majority have shown resilience and growth. <\/p>

The initiative was funded by Prime Minister Gaston Browne, who has also been instrumental in promoting peace between former rival groups. He has pledged continued support to help these students transition into the workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
