ABWU Moves to Secure Terminal Benefits for CAS Workers Following Liquidation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

St. John\u2019s, Antigua \u2014 15 April 2025 \u2014<\/em> The Antigua and Barbuda Workers\u2019 Union (ABWU<\/a><\/strong>) acknowledges the liquidation notice for Caribbean Airport Services Ltd. (CAS), published in the 3 April 2025 edition of the Antigua and Barbuda Official Gazette<\/em>.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The notice requires all creditors of the company to submit their names, addresses, and particulars of their debts or claims to the court-appointed liquidator, Mr. Christopher S. Sambrano of Barbados, by 30 April 2025.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Following the appointment of the liquidator on 11 March 2025, the ABWU promptly began taking the necessary steps to secure terminal benefits owed to workers by the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In March, the Union engaged Mr. Sambrano and subsequently filed a claim in the High Court for severance payments.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The liquidator has since confirmed that the claim will not be contested, and that every effort will be made to fulfill the company\u2019s financial obligations to affected workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ABWU <\/a><\/strong>General Secretary, Senator David Massiah, reassured workers that the Union is doing everything in its power to safeguard their interests.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAt this stage, we are actively engaging the liquidator to secure the best possible outcome,\u201d Massiah stated.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Union hopes to meet with the current and former CAS workers next week, following continued discussions with the liquidator. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Workers are encouraged to stay tuned to the Union\u2019s official communication platforms for details of an official meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
