Police in Antigua and Barbuda are warning the public about individuals falsely claiming to represent charities or community causes to solicit donations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The alert follows reports that people were collecting money on behalf of the family of Chantel Crump<\/a><\/strong> without their consent.<\/p>

In a statement, the Royal Police Force said scammers are exploiting public goodwill, undermining trust in legitimate charities. They reminded the public that obtaining money under false pretences is a criminal offence under Section 27 of the Larceny Act.<\/p>

Authorities have urged anyone involved in such activities to stop immediately or face legal action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The public is encouraged to report suspected scams to the Criminal Investigations Department on 462-3913\/14.<\/p>
