PM Browne Hints at Election Timing: \u201cIt\u2019s Coming Soon\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prime Minister Gaston Browne <\/a><\/strong>has signaled that general elections may not be far off, telling a crowd of Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) supporters on Sunday night that the people appear more ready for the polls than he is.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Addressing a large gathering in St. George, Browne <\/a><\/strong>said, \u201cThis is perhaps the first time that the people ready for general elections before the Prime Minister ready to call it.\u201d While he did not announce a date, the statement added to growing speculation that the country could head to the polls earlier than expected.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re watching that space carefully,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd when the time comes, trust me, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth within the UPP.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Browne, who has led the ABLP since 2012 and has overseen successive electoral victories, made it clear that the decision will be strategic. \u201cSomebody asked me if I’m going to wait to catch them with their pants down. I said to them\u2014right now the pants always down,\u201d he said to loud applause.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Prime Minister used the rally not only to energize the party\u2019s base but also to reaffirm his confidence in the ABLP\u2019s renewed team, describing it as \u201cmore vibrant than it has been even since before 2014.\u201d He pointed to the emergence of younger candidates and the party\u2019s internal reform process following the 2023 general elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also assured supporters that his administration remains focused on resolving national issues\u2014including roads, water supply, healthcare, and economic expansion\u2014and insisted that the Labour Party had \u201cearned\u201d another term in office.<\/p>

As the crowd chanted and waved red flags, Browne closed his remarks with a call for unity and readiness: \u201cLet us ensure that come the next elections, it will be a resounding victory for the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party.\u201d<\/p>
