The festivals commission is busy promoting the controversial One Nation Concert while dozens of prize winners and service providers of the 2018 carnival celebrations have not been paid.<\/p>

It is estimated that tens of thousands of dollars will be needed to host the controversial concert, a brainchild of prime minister Gaston Browne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In previous years, the concert has attracted pricy acts from abroad and also featured some local performances.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The funding for the initiative however has never been made public.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Recently, the cash-strapped festivals commission began promotions for the event scheduled to be held in ten days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meantime, a promise to pay carnival prize winners and service providers by December has not been fulfilled.<\/p>

In November, Festivals Minister Daryl Matthew said all vouchers would be sent to the treasury for payment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Festivals Chairman Maurice Merchant followed up with a press statement which reminded the public of a government commitment to pay by December 2018.<\/p>
