In a Facebook Live address, originally delivered in Spanish and translated, Mart\u00ednez expressed concern over social media posts inciting violence against Dominicans, stressing that innocent people should not suffer for the actions of one individual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere are voices inciting hate against us, calling for attacks on Dominicans. This is dangerous. Innocent people should not pay for the actions of one person,\u201d Mart\u00ednez stated. \u201cWe must remain vigilant and avoid confrontation. Retaliation will only escalate tensions.\u201d<\/p>

His comments come amid reports that a Dominican national may be implicated in the crime, leading to online discussions suggesting retaliatory actions against members of the Dominican community. He condemned such rhetoric, calling for unity and justice rather than division and fear.<\/p>

Mart\u00ednez urged Dominican nationals in Antigua and Barbuda to stay aware of their surroundings and ensure their safety. \u201cI tell all Dominicans to be careful. Watch your homes, watch your streets, and stay out of trouble. We cannot allow ourselves to be caught up in conflict,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also called on local authorities to intervene in de-escalating tensions and ensuring that all residents, regardless of nationality, are treated fairly. \u201cThe authorities must act responsibly to prevent any violence. No one should be targeted because of their nationality,\u201d he added.<\/p>
