The Embassy of Antigua and Barbuda presents its compliments to the Department of State and has the honour to refer to an article in the New York Times of 14 March 2025, titled \u201cDraft List for New Travel Ban Proposes Trump Target 43 Countries.\u201d The article asserts that Antigua and Barbuda has been placed on a \u201cYellow List\u201d of countries \u201cwhich would be given 60 days to clear up perceived deficiencies.\u201d<\/p>

The Embassy expresses its deep concern about these reports and respectfully requests clarification regarding whether the Department of State has, in fact, drawn up such a list naming Antigua and Barbuda. The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has received no prior notice from any branch of the U.S. Government regarding this matter, and thus, would be grateful for any official information the Department of State can provide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the event that the information in the article is accurate, the Embassy, mindful of the mutually beneficial relations between our two countries and determined to uphold these close ties, kindly requests details of any \u201cdeficiencies\u201d perceived by agencies of the United States so that they may be promptly discussed and remedied.<\/p>

The Embassy takes this opportunity to reaffirm that the Government of Antigua and Barbuda maintains a sanctions policy fully aligned with that of the U.S. Treasury in all financial matters. Furthermore, in relation to the Citizenship by Investment Programme (CIP), Antigua and Barbuda does not accept applications from any country that is currently on a U.S. banned list. All applications are rigorously vetted by recognized international agencies, including INTERPOL, to ensure that no applicants with a criminal background or current charges (including terrorism) are considered.<\/p>
