St John\u2019s, Antigua \u2013<\/strong> Acting Commissioner of Police Everton Jeffers<\/a><\/strong> has called for additional resources<\/strong> to enhance crime-fighting efforts, citing the need for advanced forensic equipment, expanded CCTV coverage, and other investigative tools<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday<\/strong>, Jeffers acknowledged that while the force has sufficient manpower<\/strong>, it lacks key technological resources<\/strong> that could significantly improve its ability to solve crimes.<\/p>

\u201cWe do have enough personnel, but there are other resources<\/strong> that could make a difference in our investigations,\u201d Jeffers said. \u201cCCTV cameras, for example, are crucial. While we do have some in operation, we need more cameras<\/strong> across the city and in key areas to help track movements and gather evidence.\u201d<\/p>

The Acting Commissioner also highlighted the limitations of the current forensic capabilities<\/strong>, stating that modern forensic tools would allow police to analyze crime scenes more effectively<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn some places, investigators can retrieve DNA or trace evidence<\/strong> from abandoned vehicles and crime scenes using advanced forensic technology,\u201d he noted. \u201cWe don\u2019t<\/strong> have access to the full range of tools that could make these processes more effective.\u201d<\/p>

Jeffers stressed that investments in forensic equipment<\/strong> would improve police efficiency and increase the chances of solving crimes faster<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His remarks come amid several high-profile investigations<\/strong>, including the search for nine-year-old Chantel Crump<\/strong>, who was abducted on Wednesday, and the ongoing probe into a decomposed body found in Swetes<\/strong>.<\/p>
