PM Browne Calls for Local Investment in Mega Yacht Marinas<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Prime Minister Gaston Browne is urging local entrepreneurs to seize the growing opportunities in the high-end tourism sector by investing in mega yacht marinas. With Antigua and Barbuda<\/a><\/strong> already a premier destination for luxury yachts, Browne emphasized that expanding marina facilities will enhance the country\u2019s appeal to ultra-high-net-worth visitors and generate significant economic benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have one of the most attractive yachting destinations in the Caribbean, and we need to ensure that we continue to capitalize on this advantage,\u201d Browne stated. \u201cThis is an opportunity for Antiguans and Barbudans<\/a><\/strong> to invest in and benefit from this growing sector.\u201d<\/p>

Browne noted that Antigua\u2019s yachting industry has seen steady growth<\/strong>, with international interest in the island\u2019s harbors increasing. The government has been facilitating developments in the sector, but Browne stressed that private investment is critical<\/strong> to expanding marina infrastructure.<\/p>

\u201cOur goal is to ensure that our people are not just spectators but active participants in the industry. The government cannot do it alone\u2014we need private capital, especially from our local investors, to develop additional berthing facilities, high-end services, and waterfront attractions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He pointed to English Harbour and Falmouth Harbour<\/strong>, which host some of the world\u2019s most prestigious regattas, as prime examples of what can be achieved with sustained investment. However, he acknowledged that further expansion is needed to accommodate the rising number of mega yachts visiting the region.<\/p>

According to Browne, increased marina development will create employment opportunities<\/strong> in areas such as marina management, yacht servicing, hospitality, and tourism support services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is not just about docking space,\u201d he said. \u201cThe yachting sector brings opportunities in maintenance, provisioning, high-end dining, and entertainment. If we expand our marinas, we can increase spending from yacht owners, their guests, and their crew members\u2014injecting millions into the local economy.\u201d<\/p>

Browne also noted that attracting more high-net-worth visitors will have a multiplier effect<\/strong>, benefiting small businesses, tour operators, and local artisans<\/strong> who cater to the luxury market.<\/p>

While encouraging private investment, the Prime Minister assured that the government will play its part in creating an enabling environment<\/strong> for marina expansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are willing to provide the necessary incentives, whether through tax concessions, streamlined approvals, or infrastructure support, to facilitate new marina developments,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Browne reiterated that Antigua and Barbuda is well-positioned to become the leading mega yacht hub in the Caribbean<\/strong>, but local investors must act swiftly to secure their stake in the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have everything we need\u2014the natural beauty, the location, and the reputation. Now, we need our people to step up and take advantage of the opportunities before they are snapped up by foreign investors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
