Employees across all  Cable & Wireless<\/a> markets in the Caribbean and Latin America celebrated the company\u2019s annual \u201cMission Day\u201d recently by leading several community partnership programs and internal activities across the region. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Mission Day\u2019 is a company led activity where team members come together\nto support a variety of community projects. This year, the focus was two-fold:\nwork with the C&W Charitable Foundation to raise funds to support employees\nand communities impacted by the recent devastating floods in Trinidad and\nTobago; and to create special moments in communities across the region where\nthey live and work.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dom Boon, VP of People and\nCommunications for C&W Communications said, \u201cThis was a true demonstration\nof how passionate our employees are about supporting the communities that they\nlive and work in. This annual event embodies the way that we live and breathe\nthe new Liberty Latin America philosophy \u2013we know that kindness is not an\noption – it just is.\u201d  On Mission Day employees from\nTrinidad to Panama and Costa Rica to Seychelles all came together and worked as\none team with a common purpose.  They executed 19 volunteer projects and\n13 internal fundraisers and they raised over US$18,000 to be donated to\nTrinidad and Tobago Flood relief initiative.<\/p>

Employees across\nLatin America and the Caribbean carried out fundraising and <\/p>\n\n\n\n

community building\ninitiatives in recognition of Mission Day 2018<\/p>

The teams worked with local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to\nsupport their community initiatives. \nThey also helped to refurbish local schools and undertook several\ncommunity and beach clean-up projects including painting and planting flowers; some\nemployees provided career counselling and gave motivational talks at juvenile\ncorrectional facilities while other employees distributed care packages with\nthe assistance of community nurses to shut-ins, amputees and persons living\nwith disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many schools including two for children with disabilities celebrated an\nearly Christmas receiving a visit from Santa Claus who handed out gifts to all.  Other children enjoyed a movie under the\nstars with plenty of popcorn and fun.<\/p>

Regional employees came out in full force on Mission day to help support\nhundreds of families in Trinidad who lost everything to the Floods.  In addition to raising funds to support the\nrecently announced US$100,000 relief and recovery initiative by the C&W\nCharitable Foundation, employees also raised funds to refurbish the Bridge of\nHope orphanage that was damaged during the floods.<\/p>

Another significant regional project this year included community\nactivities in Dominica where families are still rebuilding from damaging\nhurricanes just over a year ago. The local team is partnering with the All\nHands and Hearts Charity to help with the rebuilding of the Morne Prosper\nPrimary School that was destroyed during the 2017 hurricane season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Boon, \u201cEach year, C&W recognizes \u2018Mission Day\u2019 as a\nspecial day of giving, volunteerism and simply doing good in direct response to\nthe needs of the communities we serve, connecting with the people and\ntransforming their lives in real and tangible ways, creating magical moments of\ncare.\u201d<\/p>\n
