product\u201d in the Caribbean<\/strong> to an emerging <strong>regional leader<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking on <em>The Browne and Browne Show<\/em> on Pointe FM, Mr Browne credited <strong>Global Ports Holding (GPH)<\/strong> for significantly enhancing the country\u2019s <strong>cruise tourism experience<\/strong>, resulting in increased passenger arrivals, improved facilities, investments being made and the improvements at Heritage Quay, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/new-cruise-terminal-to-generate-200-construction-jobs-more-opportunities-for-locals\/?swcfpc=1\">Antigua\u2019s cruise<\/a> sector is infrastructure<\/strong>, <strong>low visitor engagement<\/strong>, and a <strong>declining reputation<\/strong> among cruise lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe coastline was littered with old iron from <strong>abandoned barges and sunken ships<\/strong>. It was an <strong>eyesore<\/strong>,\u201d Mr Browne said.<\/p><div id=\"antig-3328097030\" class=\"antig-content_2 antig-entity-placement\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.courts.com\/antigua\/\" aria-label=\"500X500 (1)\"><img src=\"https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:500\/h:500\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/500X500-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Infrastructure upgrades<\/strong> to modernize the <strong>Fifth Berth<\/strong>, allowing larger cruise ships to dock.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Expansion of home porting<\/strong>, attracting major cruise lines like <strong>P&amp;O Cruises\u2019 Arvia<\/strong>, which has steadily increased its turnaround passenger numbers from <strong>6,000 to 20,000<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Retail and entertainment enhancements<\/strong>, ensuring that <strong>more cruise visitors stay and spend locally<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis project will <strong>revolutionize the cruise experience<\/strong> in Antigua,\u201d said <strong>Gasper George, General Manager of GPH
