Two women sentenced for stealing from stores on Redcliffe Street<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SOURCE: ANTIGUA OBSERVER- <\/strong>A 30-year-old woman has been fined, and her 22-year-old co-accused has been placed on probation after admitting to stealing approximately $1,100 worth of merchandise from two Redcliffe<\/strong> <\/a>Street stores, on February 26.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Tichelle James and Shania Knight admitted to entering two Chinese stores and taking multiple items, including six pairs of shoes, two pairs of shorts, six pairs of socks, a dress, a T-shirt, and various other clothing items.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The theft was discovered when a store owner noticed merchandise protruding from one of the women\u2019s bags as they exited. The suspects were followed to Redcliffe<\/strong> <\/a>Quay, where the stolen items were recovered before authorities were contacted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both women were charged for larceny when they appeared before Magistrate Dane Hamilton on Monday.<\/p>

They were remanded to His Majesty\u2019s Prison for one night and were brought back to court on Tuesday for sentencing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the sentencing, Magistrate Dane Hamilton inquired about their night in prison. James pleaded, \u201cPlease, I don\u2019t want to go back.\u201d Knight added, \u201cMosquito bite me no wah.\u201d<\/p>

The prosecutor suggested they should spend more time in prison to learn their lesson, but the women quickly begged the Magistrate not to do so.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Ultimately, James was sentenced to pay a fine of $500, considering the items were already returned and she had spent a night in prison. The younger defendant, Knight, was placed on probation for two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

James had to pay the money forthwith or spend 14 days in prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
